When is registration?
Registration will open in June and will be fully online.

Who can register with Bluenose Women's Field Lacrosse League?
Players born in years 2005 - 2018. 

What are the age divisions?

Mini Bluenose - born in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
U11 - born in 2013 and 2014
U13 - born in 2011 and 2012
U15 - born in 2009 and 2010
U19 - born in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

How many players are on a team?

Mini Bluenose is a program geared for girls ages 5-8 to learn the fundamentals of girls field lacrosse in a fun and supportive environment. Sessions will be a mix of skill building drills, fun games, and mini lacrosse games. 

U11/U13 play a 7 vs. 7 cross field game and will have a max of 15 players per team.

U15 and U19 divisions will play 10 vs 10 full field game and have a maximum of 20 players on a team. 


When does the season start? end?

Pre-season sessions and Try Lacrosse sessions will be held in August (dates TBA).
The Bluenose season is August 26 and ends October 28:

  • Skills and team balancing practice - Saturday, August 26

  • Regular season games are Saturdays - September 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, October 14, 21, 28

Where are sessions held? 
Harbour East Turf in Dartmouth (next to RBC arena)
St. Stephan's School in North End Halifax. 

Do we play rain or shine?
Games and practices on Harbour East turf will be rain or shine. 
Practices on St. Stepen's grass field is weather dependent, following HRM field condition closures.

w much is registration?
Mini Bluenose - $75, which includes a Bluenose t-shirt
U11 and U13 - $150, includes a Bluenose Pinnie (or Bluenose shorts if you have your pinnie from last year)
U15 and U19 - $180, includes a Bluenose Pinnie (or Bluenose shorts if you have your pinnie from last year)
 

Is it a competitive league?
Our league is designed to teach players the fundamentals of women's field lacrosse. Teams will have a range of skill levels from new players to experienced players. Previous lacrosse experience is not necessary!
The Bluenose Elite team is designed for those players with a strong ability and desire to play at a higher level.  

My child wants to play goalie, but I do not have any equipment.
Awesome! Goalie equipment is provided by the league for the season and we provide goalie instruction. 

What equipment is required?
Women’s field lacrosse game is non-contact, therefore protective equipment is not required aside from a mouthguard and goggles.
Players may wear shoes with plastic or rubber cleat/studs. 
The goalkeeper must wear a helmet with face mask, a throat protector and a chest or body pad. She may also wear padded gloves, arm pads and leg pads.
A women's field lacrosse stick. Sticks can be rented for the season for $20. See online registration form for more details. 

Where do I find women's field lacrosse sticks and goggles?
Sports Wheels in Sackville carries women's field lacrosse sticks and goggles. We encourage players to buy their own stick, however, sticks can be rented for the season at a cost of $20 through online registration.
